Welcome to the layering masterclass
Layering is the art of combining perfumes on the skin to create your own unique scent profile. In this series, you will find perfume sets curated by us, selected to work perfectly together and achieve a specific, intended result. Each set contains separate, full-sized perfumes that you can wear solo or layer together to discover new fragrance stories.
Recipe for "cherry-rhubarb compote"=Tangy Tankie 50 ml + Cherry Bomb 50 ml
Here is our recipe for a rhubarb-cherry compote in fragrance form. In this layering masterclass, you receive two full-sized perfumes: Tangy Tankie 50 ml and Cherry Bomb 50 ml. This duo was chosen by us specifically to deliver the aroma of a juicy, fruity, and slightly tart compote, where tangy rhubarb meets sweeter cherry. The effect is mouth-watering, vibrant, and slightly nostalgic. This combination is perfect for early spring and springtime, when you crave something fresh, appetizing, and joyful, but with a touch of nostalgia.
Tangy Tankie 50 ml + Cherry Bomb 50 ml - why does it work?
Cherry Bomb, by its very design, contains accords of black cherries, Maraschino liqueur, Marasca cherries, and rhubarb jam; therefore, Tangy Tankie does not introduce a foreign scent direction, but instead strengthens the already existing rhubarb core of the composition. The addition of pure, fresh rhubarb with a green, tart, and juicy profile enhances the sillage and the overall juiciness of the fragrance. In practice, this layering shifts the center of gravity of Cherry Bomb. The heavier notes don't magically disappear, but they recede more into the background, as the fresh rhubarb intensifies the impression of acidity, fruit pulp and natural juiciness. The final result shifts from a darker, more tobacco-cherry interpretation toward a cherry-rhubarb compote - thick with fruit and slightly tart to the senses.
How to layer perfumes - a step-by-step guide
It's best to start with a 1:1 ratio to evaluate which direction you want to take the composition—more rhubarb or more cherry. Begin with a small number of sprays and gradually build the proportions. A higher share of Tangy Tankie will shift the composition toward green acidity, freshness, and a more distinct rhubarb accent. A higher share of Cherry Bomb will enhance the cherry depth, sweetness, and a darker background.
To achieve a fresher, tarter, and more distinctly rhubarb profile, use Tangy Tankie as the dominant layer and a smaller amount of Cherry Bomb as an element to deepen the fruity background. If you desire a fuller, darker, and more saturated effect, use Cherry Bomb as the base and Tangy Tankie as an accent to lift the sillage, juiciness, and freshness of the experience.
If the goal is maximum integration of both compositions, apply them to the same spot. This application method provides a more uniform, blended effect and reveals a new common accord faster. If you want a more complex, evolving experience, apply them side-by-side or on different parts of the body—for example, Cherry Bomb on the neck or décolletage and Tangy Tankie on the wrists. This allows both compositions to remain more distinct and ensures a more multi-dimensional development of the scent over time.
